Strategy for sustainability Management im the United Nations System 2020-2030

📅 August 20, 2024

In December 2018, the Secretary-General of the United Nations asked all entities of the UN system to integrate sustainability management into all their functions and activities. The strategy for sustainability management in the United Nations system 2020-2030 was established in response to this request.

The strategy sets out a common vision for sustainability management across the United Nations system and provides a framework for action over the period 2020–2030. It builds on the progress made under previous sustainability strategies and aims to accelerate progress towards a more sustainable United Nations system.

Key priorities of the strategy include:

  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions from United Nations operations
  • Improving resource efficiency across all UN entities
  • Integrating sustainability into procurement, travel, facilities and events
  • Engaging staff and stakeholders in sustainability efforts

WQCAS supports organizations in aligning their conformity assessment activities with international sustainability standards and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
